The Local Government Management Agency is a national centre of excellence providing, procuring and co-ordinating a range of services and supports required by the local government sector that are most effectively and efficiently provided at national level.

The role of the Agency is to meet the needs of Local Authorities and the Department of Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government (DHPCLG) in delivering on the public sector reform agenda in the local government sector (particularly in terms of shared services), researching emerging and identified issues, assisting Local Authorities in the implementation and measurement of change, and supporting, in general, enhanced performance by the local government sector.

The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating the development of strategic human resources and employee relations policies and practices throughout the local authority sector. As part of a professional team, s/he will provide management representation at conciliation, WRC adjudications and Labour Court hearings and provide support and advice to local authorities in relation to human resources best practice.

Candidates should ideally:
• Have a minimum of eight years experience in the area of Employee Relations/Human Resources Management;
• Hold CIPD membership or equivalent;
• Possess excellent presentation, verbal and written skills;
• Have a comprehensive working knowledge of current employment legislation.

The salary range for the position is €65,426pa - €81,675pa
