Minister Hogan launches new five year strategy for public libraries

Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, Phil Hogan TD, today (19/12/2013) launched the new strategy 2013-2017 for public libraries, Opportunities for All: the public library as a catalyst for economic, social and cultural development.

International Public Lending Right (PLR) Conference

An international PLR conference, hosted for the first time in Ireland took place in Farmleigh House on September 26 and 27. The 10th international PLR conference brought together international representatives from PLR offices, authors’ organisations and other agencies from Western and Eastern Europe, Canada, USA, South Africa and Taiwan under the aegis of the International PLR Network.

Local Enterprise Offices to Support Micro and Small Business at Local Level

The County and City Managers’ Association (CCMA) today welcomed the publication of the Framework Service Level Agreement (SLA) between local authorities and Enterprise Ireland for the new Local Enterprise Offices (LEOs). The SLA along with the new branding for the LEO offices were revealed today by Minister for Jobs and Innovation, Mr Richard Bruton TD, Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government, Mr Phil Hogan TD and Minister of State for Small Business John Perry TD. CCMA Report on Local Authority Support to Economic Development

The report ‘Supporting Enterprise, Local Development and Economic Growth-Analysis of Local Authority Activities for 2012’ was published today by the County and City Managers’ Association (CCMA). The report which was welcomed by Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government, Mr. Phil Hogan T.D., highlights over 2,300 separate actions, projects and promotional activities undertaken by local authorities in 2012 to support job creation and economic development. Registration of all domestic wastewater treatment systems required by 1st of February 2013

The Protect Our Water website (www.ProtectOurWater.ie) has been operational since the 26th June 2012. The registration fee has increased to €50 (from €5) since the 28th September. To date, the LGMA have received approximately 340,000 registrations. All owners of premises connected to a domestic wastewater treatment system are required to register their systems by midnight on the 1st of February 2013.
