ICT Infrastructure

ICT services are mainly concerned with the provisions of a secure and robust infrastructural platform for local authorities to deliver their business needs. The ICT team works with local authorities in the managing and maintaining of the platform for the delivery of electronic delivery of services. The range of services provided by the LGMA includes Contract Management Services, the provision of a growing Government and Hosting and Data Centre to the public sector and the procurement of technology related goods and services on a sectoral basis.

Functions of ICT

Enhanced Network Services

Provision of Network consultancy and support including on-site assistance to 12 local authorities and the NRDO for an additional annual fee.

NOC

Network operations Centre in conjunction with other Network teams, Provide and maintain a secure, resilient, high performance Hosting Services Infrastructure. The LGMA are an accredited IE Registrar.

SQL team

The LGMA offer a number of different SQL hosting options and this can be designed in accordance with the Customer and Application provider. We can provide a complete managed SQL database environment , (e.g. monitored , optimised, high availability) with managed backup and recovery options. The degree of security around this will be designed around the Customer needs and budget.

Customer Services

Local authorities are complex organisations, which require substantial ICT systems to support them in the areas of Franchise, Environment, Community and enterprise, Planning, Recreation & Amenity, Finance, Housing and Local Authority Corporate Services. The knowledge management Centre (KMC) provides support, implementation assistance and training on a wide range of service to the Local authorities and other stakeholders across the extensive range of business areas.

Internal IT Support

The internal IT support unit provide the technical support and proactive planning for the implementation of internal ICT systems. The provision of a focused technical support team ensures continuity of operations and the excellent technical advice, network and systems administration and support.

The main functions of the internal IT team are:

  • Desktop, laptop, printer and network connectivity support.
  • Building and rebuilding of hardware including desktops, laptops and servers.
  • Procurement of all hardware to be used internally in LGMA.
  • Recycling of LGMA hardware
  • Projects to maintain the internal LAN, antivirus, System Centre Essentials, mailmeter, ipmonitor, and Barracuda web filtering.
